Beautiful design that’s very functional with many great smart features, but yet lacking some others.

The Encode Lever Smart Lock by Schlage, is a very attractive lock that has great performance and quality from a well-respected name in the business. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying.

I. Quality – This is definitely a very well-built lock, that’s obviously made out of strong, good quality materials. I’d put this one in the upper tier of the quality scale for door locks and guess it’ll last me for years of great service.

II. Performance – Its works fantastic at providing a great experience with features it has. The lock is smooth and solid, the codes are easy to input with very little errors and you can have up to 100 of them. The built in Wi-Fi is rarer then you might think and wonderful feature to have. It allows you to easily connect to the internet, so you can access the lock from anywhere in case you need to check on things or let someone in remotely. The keypad is unique in that it looks kind of 3D like the numbers stick out. The battery consumption is very low, making one set of batteries last a long time. The functionality is top notch, making it one of the best performing lock I’ve tried. 

III. Missing Features – The only downside for me to this lock is the lack of two desirable features. One is that is has no RFID card’s that can be nice to use or give out when needed, so you don’t have to type in a code. However, it does allow you to do the same thing through the app if you have it on your phone. Unfortunately, people like my grandma don’t have a smart phone. The second and my favorite way to unlock a door is a fingerprint scanner. I have many doors with them installed and they’re super-fast and convenient to use. I was a little surprised that this one doesn’t have it at this level of cost. 

Overall, if the lack of those two features isn’t a deal killer for you, then this is a fantastic lock. Its far superior to most lock for the features it has and will provide an excellent experience. I’ve been very happy to have it at my house and enjoy using it daily. I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it.
